Daddy Gets to Work

Grandma Carolyn and Grandpa Dan got us the Bugaboo Bee stroller that I had been wanting since finding out I was pregnant. Daddy was skeptical at first, but even he admits that it is the coolest stroller ever. After the baby shower I put Andrew to work. The goal was to put the adaptor on the stroller so we could use the car seat with it. Thank goodness he is so handy.

I have to admit the car seat was a little hard! I got frustrated because I couldn't figure it out. Finally Andrew put the sock monkey in it so I could practice with something that was more babylike. Thank goodness for stuffed animals!

Mommy's Masterpiece

I bought this wall decal over a month ago but Andrew and I have been too scared to put it up. I was tired of looking at the plain, boring wall over Olive's crib so I decided to just go for it. Last night daddy was working late so I put on some music and tried to be as artistic as I could. I think I did a pretty good job!

(Excuse the light in the left hand corner. We are trying to get a dimmer so it isn't so bright!)

La Baby Shower!

Yesterday was my LA baby shower in Bay Island. We decided to skip the caterers and do everything ourselves. Thankfully Grandma Rufer, Grandma Carolyn, Cathy Goodman, Carolyn Clark, Bonnie, and Andrew were all there to help! The weather was a little overcast at first but by noon the sun was out and it was gorgeous.

The food was delicious and it was so good to see everyone! My stepmom even drove all the way from Northern California. Of course little Olive got a ton of adorable presents. Now we just have to find room for everything!

Thank you to everyone who showed up and made it such a special day.

Becky came with little Lula Mae who is only 3 weeks old! Andrew and I even got a little practice in. I'm not going to lie - I was nervous when I was holding her and she started to cry. Andrew was much more comfortable. I know its not a competition - but I'm not happy that he is more confident than me.

Call me Mrs. Cahn Part 2

Guess what came in the mail last week? I'm no longer Kimberlie Oliveira. It feels a little strange and I occasionally sign my name incorrectly. As you can see from the picture I used my new signature. I still need to work on it.

The Construction Never Ends

For the last 2 weeks Andrew and I have been dealing with some major pool drama. Basically our pool started turning green and our chlorinator malfunctioned. Long story short - the solution was to drain at least half of the water in the pool. Since we were planning on re-plastering it in the next year or so, we thought, why wait? Granted I am giving you the sugar coated version of the story. The real story involves our evil pool guy who made mistake after mistake making this the only solution. I can't say I'm not secretly happy. I'm excited to have new tile and a brand new sparkling pool!

To be continued.....

Baby Bump - 33 Weeks

I'm 33 weeks today with only 7 to go. Those 7 weeks are going to fly by so quickly! It is hard to believe that in less than 2 months we will be bringing a little baby home. As you can see from the above pictures - all of our outdoor furniture is in the house. We had a minor disaster with our pool and ended up having to have the entire thing re-plastered and re-tiled this week.

Here is a close up of the bump. I'm definitely getting bigger although I can still see my toes and my belly button hasn't popped! This week the baby is the size of a pineapple measuring between 19 and 22 inches and weighing around 4.9 pounds. Considering the amount she has been hurting me these days with her movements it sounds about right.

kim finally gets her special treatment

i think everyone would agree that kim is a big fan of vip treatment - seat upgrades, hotel upgrades, 25% off sales, you name it - if it's somehow special, she wants it. unfortunately for her, as a fully able-bodied person she hasn't been able to enjoy preferential parking. well she can thank me because i've finally fixed that one for her. the other day at babies-r-us we discovered a special zone that had her name written all over it.

Mr. and Mrs. Kirkpatrick

Saturday was a beautiful day at the Crown Colony in Rye, New Hampshire. Molly and Tim got married and the ceremony couldn't have been more amazing. It was non-traditional with family and friends reading their vows. After, the couple paddled away in a canoe.

As you can see from the pictures, they both looked gorgeous and so very happy. Andrew and I were definitely excited to be a part of their special day.

There were a lot of familiar faces from LA and new ones that we had been hearing about for ages!

Here we are with the bride and groom. This was around the time that mommy was feeling really tired and ready to head back to Boston. Being pregnant can be tough sometimes. Normally I would have been the last person to leave the dance floor! Everyone doubted we would actually make it - but I wouldn't have missed it for the world.

Hello Rye, NH

Last night Andrew and I landed safely in Boston and drove to Rye, NH for Molly and Tim's wedding. I was definitely wiped out by the time we arrived at our hotel at 11pm and went straight to bed. The next day we ended up having lunch with the bride, her family, and friends from LA and NYC.

Molly swore that Petey's was the best place in town for clam chowder so I was happy we went there. It was creamy, delicious, and EXACTLY what I was hoping for. I love New England.

Daddy's First Toy

I had to post a picture of the cutest toy that Andrew bought for the baby the other day. Awww..thanks daddy.

Baby Bump - 32 Weeks

I'm 32 weeks today and off to Rye, NH for Molly and Tim's wedding. I can hardly believe that we have less than 2 months to go! I'm still feeling really good although as my tummy gets bigger it gets more and more difficult to breathe normally. I get winded just walking around the house! Thankfully we went to the doctor yesterday and she said everything looked beautiful and our trip shouldn't be a problem. The baby is even head down and ready for action!!

Here is a close up of the bump. I have to admit - I think it is pretty cute. This week the baby is as big as a honeydew measuring up to 19 inches long and around 4.5 pounds.

unexpected

hello team -

we had a little surprise visit this morning. tomorrow we go to new hampshire to tim & molly's wedding, so we had a doctor's appointment this morning to make sure everything is ok for kim to fly. our doctor said she was gonna check kim's amniotic fluid level and whipped out the ultrasound. i personally think she wanted to try out their new ultrasound machine, but whatever. it was exciting to see junior after several months of growth. i took a little video of the occasion -

Dinner in my new high heels

Last night Andrew and I had dinner with Lotus and Tony at Church and State. I had been dying to try it for months so I was happy that we were finally going. Unfortunately I think I ordered the wrong things. Although everything was good, I was hoping it would be mind blowing. Thankfully the company was fabulous and we had a great time!

Here we are after dinner - Auntie Lotus was trying to feel the baby. Too bad little Olive was being a diva and wouldn't kick!

I decided to switch it up a little and put on my brand new stilettos last night. I have been buying so many things for the baby that I forgot about me! I saw these and had to have them. Granted they were on super sale AND I had a credit. It was a win win situation.

RIP Bear

Today is a very sad day. Our sweet, lovable golden retriever Bear is going to be put to sleep. Last week my mom found out that he has an advanced case of lung cancer and unfortunately he isn't doing very well. Thankfully they will have the vet come to the house so that he is as comfortable as possible. This morning my mom was making him a hamburger so I know he is in good hands.

I will definitely miss sneaking him treats!

deep, deep breathing

(andrew guest entry)

sunday was our first birthing class - 3 hours of continuous baby instruction with illustrated diagrams and flip charts. it was actually pretty interesting, it didn't really cover any new information, but i think in the coming weeks things will get more intense.

my main responsibility was to take a picture so kim could document the event. somewhere between the braxton hicks talk and the cervical measurements i forgot. but never fear, i've found an illustration that pretty much sums it up -

Books, Books, and More Books!

For Andrew's birthday his Aunt Joan sent a ton of books for the baby. I have to say I was very excited to fill her new bookshelf with them. Hopefully daddy will read them all to her!

We still need a few more things to fill the shelf - but I think it looks pretty good!

Ali rocking out to Eminem

Ali and I heard this song over and over again over the last couple days. I finally had to get a video of her singing and dancing to it. Man she's adorable.

Practice Makes Perfect Part 2

Andrew flew to Portland on Sunday for work so my mom and Alison came down to spend a couple of days in Los Angeles with me.

We started our girly time with a little pool action at our house. Ali was amazed that I had an underwater camera and couldn't wait to use it!

After the pool we headed to Bay Island to spend a few days at the house. We rushed there so that we could make a 7pm showing of Romona and Beezus. Thankfully traffic wasn't too bad and we had time to stop at La Salsa for dinner. I have to admit - the movie was REALLY good.

The next morning we got up early and headed over to Color Me Mine for some arts and crafts. Alison made the cutest butterfly for Emma and I made a cupcake holder for Ali. After that we did a little shopping at Nordstrom Rack. I got the hottest shoes for myself and a cute dress and sweater combo for Ali. I figured I deserved a little something since I spend most days buying things for the baby!

Then we helped grandma do a little shopping for the house. Granted, we also convinced her to buy things for the both of us! We went to baby Gap and bought the baby the cutest skinny jeans. Then to Gap Kids and got the same skinny jeans and the most adorable tops for Ali. I also scored a ton of baby stuff at Pottery Barn. Grandma wants to make sure that the baby has everything she could possibly need! Believe me, I wasn't complaining!

The next morning we got up early and took the golf cart to breakfast on the pier. After that we headed over to Balboa Island for some more shopping. Grandma got all the girls (Alison, Emma, and Olive) the cutest little navy crab dresses. I'm hoping they can all wear them at the same time!

Heres Ali doing a fashion show for Auntie. She is such a little diva - I love it!

After shopping for a few hours it was time for me to leave. We stopped for a bite to eat first and then said our goodbyes. I will definitely miss my sweet little niece - she is sooooo much fun.

Baby Bump - 31 Weeks

I'm 31 weeks today with only 9 more to go. Maybe even less if the baby decides to come sooner! As you can see from the picture - I'm definitely getting bigger!

Here is a close up of the bump. This week the baby is the size of a head of lettuce measuring 19 inches and around 3.9 pounds. I don't know....it sounds really big to me!!!

Lula Mae Chapman

Byron and Becky had their little baby girl last Friday morning. They named her Lula Mae and she is gorgeous - look at those cheeks! I have to get my Whooping Cough booster before I can see her so I'm hoping maybe I'll get the chance this weekend.

Happy Birthday Daddy Part 2

Andrew decided he wanted to do something low key with our friends for his birthday so we had everyone come over to the house and chill by the pool. And by everyone I mean Tim, Molly, Christine and Garrett. Unfortunately Byron and Becky couldn't make it because they just had a beautiful little baby girl a few days before!

Thankfully the weather cooperated and it was awesome! Happy Birthday Andrew! The baby and I loooooooove you so much.
