Merry Merry Christmas!

For the last couple of years Andrew and I have spent Christmas in Los Angeles. Now that we have Olive we figured it was best to alternate between families for the holidays each year. I have to admit that I loved having a quiet Christmas at our house last year. There is nothing better than snuggling in bed with the loves of my life. Christmas in Sacramento is a close second though and I was happy to spend this year with my family.

The best part of my day was when my mom surprised me with a ring my grandmother had made for her. It was always my favorite piece of jewelry and now I can wear it every day. I absolutely LOVE it!

All in all, it was a great Christmas. I'm so thankful for all the special people in my life. I feel like the luckiest girl in the world to have an amazing family and a wonderful group of friends. Happy Holidays everyone!

Christmas Eve Dinner

On Christmas Eve we had dinner at the Firehouse in Sacramento. We were a little worried about Olive since it is a very nice restaurant. It helped that we had her Classical Baby movie loaded onto our iPhones. She sat and quietly watched it for at least 30-40 minutes.

We had a semi-private room downrstairs near the wine cellar which made it very quiet and nice.  And even better - the food was delicious! I would have taken pictures, but I didn't want to take too many.

After dinner we drove over to Karrie's house to walk around and look at all of the Christmas lights. Almost every single house in the area was decorated! Hopefully when Olive gets a little older she will love it as much as I did as a kid.

Christmas at the Oliveira's

This year we celebrated Christmas with the Oliveira clan on Friday December 23rd at Ross and Ida's. We normally do Christmas Eve in Gustine at Nana's house, and although I missed our normal tradition - it was nice to do something different! There will be another addition to the Oliveira family (IDA IS PREGNANT!!!!), so I'm sure it was a lot easier on her too.

Everyone loved all their gifts - especially Papa who got a brand new iPad. Hopefully he will figure out how to use it! Uncle Mike and Aunt Marcia gave Olive some cash so thankfully her bank account balance is no longer $666.00! Thanks to everyone for making the day so special - we love you all very very much!

Sushi in Sacramento?

I didn't believe Karrie when she said there was a really good sushi spot in Sacramento, but I have to admit - I was wrong. A few nights before Christmas we went to Kru and had the most amazing sushi.  I even met my old high school friend Laurie there.  Unfortunately, Todd, Karrie and I all got a little sick that night. Oh well....it was worth it!

Hurricane Olive

Apparently Olive makes a mess no matter what house she is in. I was wrapping presents, and 5 minutes later it looked like this.

I couldn't resist posting these pictures of Olive. It seems she likes wine just as much as her mommy! Don't worry - the bottles weren't open.

Rufer Annual X-Mas Party

Last Saturday night was the annual black tie Christmas party at the Rufer house. A few hours before the party my awesome updo started falling down, and unfortunately I couldn't save it. I didn't have time to take a shower and dry my hair so I ended up with a bit of bed head. Oh well - I guess it could have been a lot worse.

Olive looked adorable in a little red dress that matched mine! We could barely pull her away from the bartender who kept refilling her cup of ice - for some reason she LOVES it! Unfortunately (or fortunately for us) we finally had to put her to bed in grandma's closet. It was the only place we could think of that would drown out all the noise. Thankfully she fell asleep easily and never made a peep.

All in all it was another fabulous holiday party! It is definitely the one that I look forward to most.
