Olive Turns 10

For Olive's birthday in October we had a drive by party. At this point - I was pretty over not being able to have a proper celebration for my baby. Buuuuut we made the most of it! We had all sorts of sweet treats to share with the people that drove by. Even Auntie Ida and the kids came by to wish Olive a Happy Birthday. I still can't believe how fast the time has gone. Pretty soon she'll be in middle school....

Birthdays in Quarantine - May

The hardest thing about being in quarantine is celebrating birthdays without being able to do anything fun.  My birthday was first. And you know how much I love a good celebration for M-E.

We had jello shots, homemade chocolate chip cookies, and of course wine! My friends Amanda, Joanne, and Merrin got us all dinner from my favorite sushi place and decorated our backyard so beautifully. It really was such a special day. Even if I couldn't live it up the way I really wanted to.

Next up was Busters birthday. We did another drive by - which broke my heart, but it was all we could do in lockdown. We ordered take out, had cake, and went on the roof to look at the view. Not the "normal" birthday I would have liked to do for him, but it was better than nothing....

Family Pics

On my birthday we did a drive by birthday party (more on that later) and had a photographer come and take some "porch portraits" of us. I hardly ever get pictures of us as a family unless I'm doing it myself. And unfortunately it gets frustrating because the kids are always fighting...or no one wants to do it. With a photographer - everyone is on their best behavior!

My Birthday

I know it's been a little too long to write about my birthday - but I finally feel like I can breathe. The kids got out of school yesterday so I'm hoping I can focus on doing a couple of blog entries. My birthday fell on a Saturday this year, which was nice. My mom flew in to LA and we did a little shopping, had lunch, and then got ready for dinner with the kids and a few friends at Hedleys. After dinner my mom took the kids home and we went out for drinks and dancing. It was a pretty fun night!

Buster Turns 6

First let me say that I cannot believe Buster is 6 years old. I'm not sure where the time went - but he is officially a big kid now. I have to say - I am so PROUD of what a cool kid he is. Kind, patient, smart, funny, and crazy don't even begin to describe him. The morning of his birthday he woke up to balloons and a few presents from me, daddy, and Olive. We ditched school and had a special birthday day - just the two of us.  The first stop was Mel's Diner for breakfast.  Then after we ate we headed to Target where I let him pick out 6 toys.

After Target we went to Castle Park for mini-golf and video games. Let me just say this - neither one of my kids likes losing. I think they definitely take after me!

After picking out a zillion things that will ultimate break with all of the tickets we won at Castle Park - we had lunch at CPK. No idea why - but it is Busters favorite restaurant. He gets the same exact thing every time - spring pasta with edamame. Of course we had a sundae with a birthday candle too!

After lunch we had to go and pick up Olive, Harper, and Holdyn. Our next stop - Color Me Mine! It's another one of the kids' favorite places. After painting we met daddy and Laura for dinner at the Beverly Glen Deli.

Happy Happy Birthday my sweet baby. We love you soooooooooo much. Now.......we've got your laser tag birthday party this weekend.....

Glenda's Birthday/Rocky Horror

On Saturday night we celebrated our friend Glenda's 40th birthday.  It was a night filled with tacos, tequila (wine for me), and treats. We had so much fun. Her new house is in our old neighborhood and is GORGEOUS. She is the perfect hostess and has serious skills when it comes to decorating! At one point Andrew and I were upstairs with all the kids playing. It was actually pretty fun. I only wish our kids were there! But they were at Grandma and Grandpas which was also nice!

After the party Andrew and I went to the Rocky Horror Picture show at the Nuart Theater on Santa Monica Blvd. We had been wanting to go for years....and it seemed like the perfect time since the kids were away for the night. Believe it or not - I was in it when I was 18. Basically people act out the movie on a stage in front of the screen. The audience interacts by yelling things at the screen/actors, dancing, etc.  I hate to say it but I remember it being much cooler. There was a lot more yelling and screaming than I remembered when I was apart of it. Granted that was only for a month - so what do I know!

Olive's Birthday Party

Normally for Olive's birthday parties we have a huge bash at our house. This year she wanted to do something small away from home. At first we were going to do a cake decorating party. Then it was roller-skating. Then after a little research on my party we settled for a 10 person escape room. Let me just say this - THEY ESCAPED!

Side note - For Olive's birthday my mom got Emma a flight to LA to spend the weekend. I love that the girls adore each other so much. It's really the sweetest thing ever.

My Baby is 8

It's hard to believe that Olive turned 8 last year in October. I can't quite believe I didn't post any pictures to commemorate her big day. She's getting so grown up. Reading like crazy - which I love. Sassy - which I don't love. One thing is for sure - I love her more today than I did yesterday, but not as much as I will tomorrow.
