'buuuurrrppppp... oh man, i just burped up cupcake and it was delicious.'

ULTRAscan

we went in for our 11 week ultrasound friday. i'm happy to report that they did it the traditional route, if you know what i mean. believe it or not you could actually see the little guy swimming around in there. flapping his/her little arms and legs. of course our doctor took the pictures at exactly the wrong time, so you have to use your imagination a little to see him.

11 Weeks and 2 Days

This week was my first week back at work in almost 2 months. The good thing is that it keeps me busy and around people as opposed to laying on the couch all day doing nothing. The not so good is that when I get home around 8pm, the only thing I can do is eat dinner and get into bed!

I'm 11 weeks and 2 days today and definitely feel like I am showing. Andrew keeps saying no, but I think he is just being nice.

doctor grandma's exam

the main reason for our visit to my parents was to have little andrew jr's heart doppler-ed. it was hard to find at first, but cahn's are historically hard to find, but once located we are strong and wooshy.

Andrew Jr's First Shoes

This afternoon we drove to Camarillo to see Grandma and Grandpa Cahn and Auntie Lindsay. Not only did we get to hear Andrew Jr's heartbeat, but Grandma made these adorable little baby shoes. I absolutely love them!

Hopefully daddy will post the video of us hearing the heartbeat for the first time. There definitely is a baby in there!!! Even though I've been feeling so yucky - I had my doubts.

Kimmie Grows a Green Thumb

For months I had been wanting to do a little something with the landscaping and lack of flowers around the house. Finally last week I bit the bullet and went to Bourget Brothers for some concrete stepping stones and rocks. Granted the minute I was done I hightailed it back to the house for some much needed rest on the couch. It's crazy how one little errand can wipe me out!

As much as I wanted to do it all myself, I realized that in my pregnant state it wouldn't be a good idea. So I called in some reinforcements. Here is our handy work. And yes....I'm going to take some of the credit.

I really wanted Calla Lillies since they are one of my favorites. We planted a few in the front yard along with some other shade loving plants and flowers.

We planted Azaleas all along the back which gives the green wall some nice color!

We also planted this sweet little orange tree with Grandma and Grandpa Cahn a few weeks ago. I can't wait until it sprouts some fruit and Andrew makes me fresh OJ.

I've always wanted Papyrus and Lavander - and our gardeners planted some where our banana plant used to be. Unfortunately our Papyrus needs some major TLC. I was assured that in a few weeks with a lot of water and sunshine they would look a million times better!

Baby Room - Oh My!

It is probably a little too early to be thinking about this - but I can't help myself. Decorating the baby room is definitely the highlight of this whole baby making experience. Besides the actual baby making! I find myself daydreaming about color schemes and wall decals when I'm feeling too sick to do anything else.

I couldn't justify the crib, changing table, and dresser that I first fell in love with. $5000 seems crazy expensive, even for me. I found one that was similar from Dwell for Target that I equally love. And the best part?? You can't beat the price - $1000 for the whole set. Definitely my kind of bargain. They also have it in a darker brown wood which I am leaning towards.

Andrew (aka Daddy) found the perfect rug! The surprising thing is that I LOVE it. It's blue, brown, and white which are the perfect colors.

Instead of painting the walls pink, blue, or some other nauseatingly bright color - we thought that the next best thing would be using decals. There is a great website that I found that has a number of ones that I like. Here is one that I thought would be cute for a baby room. Granted - Daddy doesn't like it as much as I do.

As far as artwork - we already have sock monkeys on the wall. I also like framed alphabet letters. But again - Daddy isn't sold on the letters. He says it is "tacky".

I also love this bookshelf. It comes in a darker wood that would match the crib and changing table perfectly!

And every little boy or girl needs a super cute toy box! I fell in love with this little owl one. It is just too cute. Even if daddy says that the baby won't be able to use it until it is as least 1 year old!

Is that a baby bump I see?

I am officially 9 weeks, 1 day pregnant and have 30 weeks, 6 days to go. Although Andrew says that I don't look pregnant, I thought I would post a picture to see if anyone else could see what I see. There definitely looks like there is a baby in there!

This week Andrew Jr is moving from the size of a green olive to a prune!

grain of rice -> raisin -> raspberry

if you look really close you can see little andrew/andreajr striking their first signature pose™. kim has spent hours in the mirror practicing hers, so i think it's a good developmental sign that jr is already working on it.

p.s. - when they do ultrasounds on tv they squirt some gel on your stomach and go. they used a different approach for this one.

"It Must Be Morning Somewhere" Sickness

For the last 2 weeks I've been feeling waves of "morning sickness". Whoever came up with that name is obviously not a woman who has been pregnant because "morning" = morning, noon, and night!

For me it is far worse when 5pm rolls around. I can barely get off the couch and my love for food has turned into vegetable soup and grilled cheese sandwiches. They are about the only thing that doesn't send me running for the bathroom. Too bad my toilet doesn't look like this. If it did I probably wouldn't mind tossing my cookies.
