olive really can put a peg in a hole

kim loves puzzles - crosswords, scrabble games, jigsaw puzzles, the list goes on and on.  as for me - i can barely spell my name let alone find all the possible words from its letters.

judging from this video, i think olive takes after kim.

The Case of the Missing Blush Brush

For some reason, Olive's new favorite thing is to rummage through my make-up bag. She especially loves the blush brushes - which may be the reason why I can't find any of them!

found in the car...

found today in the rear seat center console - one half eaten banana.

approximate age - judging by the mold growth - 1 month?

The Hunger Games

My Sunday afternoon had been planned for weeks. I bought advanced tickets to see the Hunger Games for Lotus, Christine, Peter, Lindsay, and myself at the Arclight Cinerama-dome. We planned on having lunch at Tender Greens, getting a little liquored up, and then seeing the movie. Unfortunately I didn't plan on the pouring rain or the fact that I would feel like utter ass. Thankfully my excitement to see the movie overrode my need to stay in bed to nurse my hideous cold! After avidly reading the 3 book series in a weekend and loving every second of it - I was a little disappointed by the movie. I understand that it's impossible to cram each and every detail into a 2 hour movie, but a lot of those details were what made the book so great!

Lunch with Uncle Todd & Auntie Lizzy

Saturday afternoon we had lunch with Uncle Todd and Auntie Lizzy at Native Foods. I forgot my camera but was able to snap these cute pictures with Todd's iphone. We love you guys!

Oh Olive

Everyone has always said "The baby stage is the easiest - it gets harder as they get older".  I never really knew what that meant until now. I always figured it would be so much easier when Olive could walk, talk, and feed herself. Little did I know that the more developmentally advanced she became  - the more attention she would need. Gone are the days where a shiny ball would entertain her for hours on end. Now we have full blown tantrums when she doesn't get what she wants!

Happy Birthday Molly!

Friday night we went to Rocco's to celebrate Molly's birthday! We took advantage of having a babysitter and went to a movie after the festivities. Even though I was feeling a little under the weather - it was a great night.  Happy Happy Birthday to the sweetest girl I know. And don't think twice about seeing 21 Jump Street. It is one of the funniest movies I've seen in a LONG time.  Seriously. So. F-ing. Funny.

Bye-Bye Sacramento

It's always sad when the time comes to say good-bye to Grandma and leave her pretty house in Sacramento. I'm worried Olive is going to grow up wishing she lived there instead of smoggy Los Angeles. There is so much room to run around and play outside and so many pretty things to look at. On the downside - they have fog, freezing temperatures and lots of rain. Come to think of it, I think Los Angeles wins out!

Thanks mom for an amazing trip - Olive and I miss you already.

Our Little Maestro

It looks like someone loves playing Grandma's piano.......

Big Girl Hair

Olive is definitely growing up fast.  I can already put her hair in pigtails AND she can feed herself. My little baby isn't so little anymore!

The Girls Go to Gustine

On Sunday we packed all the girls up and headed down to Gustine to visit Nana and Papa. Unfortunately, Olive refused to take a nap so she was a little grumpy. I'm not sure I've ever seen her throw that many tantrums in one day! The second we loaded her into the car to drive back to Sacramento - she was out!

My Little Cook

Sacramento Bound

On Friday, we woke up bright and early to get on a flight to Sacramento to spend some time with Grandma Rufer.

As you can see - Olive made herself right at home on the airplane. Thankfully, the flight wasn't full and we had the entire row to ourselves.

Mommy & Me Day - Part 2

After our delicious frozen yogurt, we headed over to Under the Sea so Olive could play for a little bit. She still loves the cars and climbed into almost every single one! She also discovered one of the slides and couldn't get enough. I think she was excited to do it on her own for once!

Next up - Whole Foods to buy meat and veggies for the stir-fry we were going to make for dinner. Believe me when I say that it was absolutely delish - even though Olive spit out every single bite! All in all it was a great mommy and me day!

bacon pops

olive has a unique technique for eating bacon - she likes to take the whole strip and just suck on it.  every once and a while she'll take a bite, but mostly she is content to just suck on it.  maybe it will catch on.  maybe they'll just start selling bacon as a drink...
