Bye-Bye Brit-eeee

It's with a heavy heart that I write this blog entry. Our beloved baby-sitter, Brittany, is moving back home to Minnesota. She got an amazing job opportunity and leaves in a few days.  Although we are all heart-broken we are also very happy for her new adventure.

She came over yesterday to say good-bye to the kids. Not only am I sad to see her go because both Olive and Buster adore her, but she was like a little sister to me. We always had long talks after coming back from our date nights. I'll be honest - I shed more than a few tears with her.

We LOVE you Brit-eeeeeee and we are going to miss you like crazy!

new addition to the backyard

our new house is nice enough, but the backyard was a little lacking.  sure there was grass and plenty of room to play, but there was no panache.  well we solved that this weekend.  behold - olive (and eventually buster's) new playset -

mamas graciously offered to fund this little bit of home improvement - big shoutout to her.  we were quoted an outrageous amount for a brand new model, so leave it to kim to find one on craigslist for 1/3rd the price.  of course i suspect she's gonna use the savings and buy a new pair of shoes - but it's the thought that counts.

Buster - Update

I wish I could stop time. My little man is already 2.5 months old and doesn't seem like a newborn anymore.

- Smiles and laughs more than he cries. Believe me - the first 6 weeks of his life this wasn't the case!

- Sleeps between 7-9 hours straight every night. I'm crossing my fingers it lasts.

- Is completely in love with his sister. Every time he sees or hears her - he gets the biggest grin on his face.

- Has the most perfect feet. His little toes are the cutest!

- Loves to be swaddled.

- He's losing his hair. Thankfully it is growing back. Slowly.

- Is in the 95 percentile for height, weight, and head size.

- No birthmark - that we can find!

- Was tongue tied. Although it didn't seem to bother him - we had surgery last week to correct it.

- He loves bath time.

- Can fall asleep in his carseat in about 5 seconds flat. If, of course, daddy is rocking him.

Olive Update

It's hard to believe our little girl is almost 3 years old. So much has changed over the last few months - Olive doesn't seem so little anymore!

- She LOVES her preschool and every day we go through all the names of all her little friends. She talks about Sebastian 24/7.

- She is completely potty trained. In fact her favorite thing to say is that she is going to make a "rainbow poo-poo". No idea what that means.....but it's cute, nonetheless.

- She only lets daddy put her to bed. Unless he is working - then she has to make do with mommy.

- She is talking up a storm. I know it's hard to believe, but her vocabulary has tripled in the last couple weeks!

- She LOVES puzzles.

- She still takes a 2 hour nap. Except for the days she goes to school - which means she goes to bed extra early at night.

- She is a picky eater. Although recently we've added pizza, subway turkey and cheese, and hot dogs to the list of things she will eat.

- Her new favorite movie is the 'Wizard of Oz' and she loves to sing 'Somewhere Over the Rainbow'. In fact - she is going to be Dorothy for Halloween.

- She still lets me pick out what clothes she wears. Although if I let her - she would wear a princess dress every day of the week.

- Every morning she asks if she can have rainbow pancakes. Sometimes we cave and make them - most of the time we try and talk her out of it. All that food dye can't be good, right?

- She has 16 freckles on her entire body. Believe me - I've counted each and every one of them.

- She is obsessed with band-aids.

- She's very good about letting me do her hair.

- No matter how many times I tell her there is no splashing in the bathtub - she can't help herself.

- She has a light red birthmark on her leg.

- She loves playing with Daddy's old train set. Her favorite thing to say is, "Mommy - I'll make it all my myself." And then she does!

- She has far too many toys. I blame me - I can't help myself.

- She loves bacon. And by love - I mean she can eat 5 pieces in one sitting.

- She absolutely adores her baby brother. Every morning she climbs into bed with us and says "Buster's awake?" and gives him a big kiss. It melts my heart every time.

Sound Asleep

Buster has always been a good sleeper. At just a few days old he was sleeping 4-5 hour stretches at night. For the last week he has been sleeping from about 8pm to 4am. It's been amazing, to say the least. I only wish I could get him to take longer naps during the day!

How Olive Sees the World

A few days ago, I gave Olive my old digital camera and let her take as many pictures as she wanted. Here are a few of a my favorites.

Office Make-Over

Remember when I said I wanted to re-do our office and make it more of a "Kim friendly" place? Well over the last few weeks I've done just that. Nothing MAJOR - just a little pop of color and a fun new rug.

Below are some pictures of the old office layout -

I always thought it was a little boring - even in our old house. It just seemed to be missing something!

Now I feel like it's finally complete! I love the new bookshelf and bright blue ottoman. It just adds a little something extra. It helps that the cutest baby in the world is sitting in our chair too.

Olive's First Bike Ride

Yesterday we decided to finally put Olive's bike seat on my bike and go for a ride. Granted. the ride was only around the neighborhood a few times - but it was still fun!

Last Week

Here are a few pictures from the last week. Sometimes it's not easy finding blog entries about going to lunch with friends, or eating ice cream! This is the perfect way for me to post pictures from all the little things we do without having to find something to write about!
