Glenda's Birthday/Rocky Horror

On Saturday night we celebrated our friend Glenda's 40th birthday.  It was a night filled with tacos, tequila (wine for me), and treats. We had so much fun. Her new house is in our old neighborhood and is GORGEOUS. She is the perfect hostess and has serious skills when it comes to decorating! At one point Andrew and I were upstairs with all the kids playing. It was actually pretty fun. I only wish our kids were there! But they were at Grandma and Grandpas which was also nice!

After the party Andrew and I went to the Rocky Horror Picture show at the Nuart Theater on Santa Monica Blvd. We had been wanting to go for years....and it seemed like the perfect time since the kids were away for the night. Believe it or not - I was in it when I was 18. Basically people act out the movie on a stage in front of the screen. The audience interacts by yelling things at the screen/actors, dancing, etc.  I hate to say it but I remember it being much cooler. There was a lot more yelling and screaming than I remembered when I was apart of it. Granted that was only for a month - so what do I know!

The Royal Tenenbaums

One of Andrew's absolute favorite movies is The Royal Tenenbaums. In November Cinespia was playing a special screening of it at an old movie theater downtown.  I got VIP tickets and decided to make a date night out of it. We headed to Cliftons first for dinner and drinks. Sadly, the cafeteria was closed for renovations so we had a few appetizers at the bar on the 4th floor. Thankfully they had hotdgs at the theater because I was still STARVING! There was even a photobooth where they had an area set up like a room from the movie.

Date Night

One night in December, Andrew and I had a date night. More specifically dinner at Dama downtown and a concert at the Henry Fonda theater. We saw Passenger - an English singer/songwriter. It was a fun night and what made it even better was that Buster was awake when we got home. I secretly love it when the kids crawl into bed with us.

Girls Day/Date Night

Before kids - Lotus and I would spend almost every Saturday together. We would call it our "girls Saturday" and they were the BEST THING EVER. One weekend in October (I know it was AGES ago) we decided to do Korean BBQ and scrubs. Believe me - it was heaven. After our girls day I got my hair done and got ready for my date night with Andrew. We were going to Ethopian food at Meals by Genet (my absolute favorite) and seeing Halloween. It really was a great day. Except, of course, at the end of the night when I had to unbutton my jeans. And not just unbutton....I had to unzip too.

Date Night - Tony's Bday

In August we went to Osteria Mozza for Tony's (Lotus' husband) 50th birthday. Any night out away from the kiddies is fun - but this one was super duper fun. The food was amazing, all of Tony's friends were funny, and Andrew and I had the BEST time.

Date Night

Andrew and I try and do a date night every Sunday. Most of the time we have dinner and go and see a movie. Other times we do something a little different. Two weeks ago we went to the Broad Museum in downtown LA.  Olive wanted to take a picture of us before we left and Buster wanted to make sure he was in it! (I'll post pics from the Broad soon).

Date Nights!

Here's the thing. It's HARD being married. It's even HARDER when you have a kid. Add another kid into the mix - and, believe it or not, it gets even HARDER. Andrew and I do a pretty good job of going out on dates and trying to make time for each other. But it's definitely not easy sometimes.

Celebrating 6 Years

On June 9th it will be six years that Andrew and I have been married. Since my mom was here for a few days helping with the kids, we decided to go out and celebrate our anniversary a little early. We went to Gusto for dinner and let me just say this: IT WAS INCREDIBLE. Everything we had was perfect and it was so nice to get out of the house without the little ones. It's hard to believe it's been 6 years already. I'm hoping for our 10 year we will go back to the Jamaica Inn and celebrate where it all started.

Last Date Night.....For Awhile

Last night Andrew and I had (what I can only assume will be)  our last date night. I made reservations at a new restaurant in Century City called Hinoki and the Bird.

We had both been wanting to try it for awhile but they are closed on Sundays - which is when we normally do our date nights. Thankfully, my mom took Olive so that we could enjoy our last weekend together before Buster arrives.

The food was delicious. We started with the lobster roll, pumpkin toast, and an escarole salad. Then miso marinated skirt steak and a sweet potato with creme fresh, lardon, and sweet peppers.

All in all - I think we both enjoyed it and would definitely go back! Unfortunately, it will probably be awhile since I think Buster is coming any day now.

After dinner we went and saw Iron Man 3. The movie was great - although I had contractions almost the entire time. But alas....baby Buster was not ready make his big screen debut.

Christmas Evening/Les Mis

On Christmas evening we took Olive's beloved babysitter, Brittany, out to dinner. Unfortunately our favorite spots were closed so we ended up at 208 Rodeo Drive. We had never been before and didn't know what to expect. Besides the service and the tourist factor - it was pretty good!

After dinner we met up with Christine, Garrett, Tim, Molly, and Tim's mom and brother Peter to see see Les Miserables at the Arclight. Let me just say this - I looooooooved the movie! It was the perfect ending to the perfect Christmas!
