Sacramento Sushi

Before the holidays Karrie, Ida and I went to Kru for some sushi and a fun girls night out.  I have to admit - for sushi....Kru is pretty good.  It's not as good as my favorite spots in Los Angeles but it comes pretty close.

Glenda's Birthday/Rocky Horror

On Saturday night we celebrated our friend Glenda's 40th birthday.  It was a night filled with tacos, tequila (wine for me), and treats. We had so much fun. Her new house is in our old neighborhood and is GORGEOUS. She is the perfect hostess and has serious skills when it comes to decorating! At one point Andrew and I were upstairs with all the kids playing. It was actually pretty fun. I only wish our kids were there! But they were at Grandma and Grandpas which was also nice!

After the party Andrew and I went to the Rocky Horror Picture show at the Nuart Theater on Santa Monica Blvd. We had been wanting to go for years....and it seemed like the perfect time since the kids were away for the night. Believe it or not - I was in it when I was 18. Basically people act out the movie on a stage in front of the screen. The audience interacts by yelling things at the screen/actors, dancing, etc.  I hate to say it but I remember it being much cooler. There was a lot more yelling and screaming than I remembered when I was apart of it. Granted that was only for a month - so what do I know!

School Gala 2019

Saturday night was the kids' school fundraiser at the Hollywood Roosevelt Hotel. This was the first year we didn't bid on more than a few items. I got a cooking class, white party, and kids rock climbing and ice cream day.  Now that they do the bidding all online - it isn't quite as fun!  After the event I was still STARVING so we went to my favorite place Astro Burger. Seriously the veggie burger with bacon is so dang good.

The Royal Tenenbaums

One of Andrew's absolute favorite movies is The Royal Tenenbaums. In November Cinespia was playing a special screening of it at an old movie theater downtown.  I got VIP tickets and decided to make a date night out of it. We headed to Cliftons first for dinner and drinks. Sadly, the cafeteria was closed for renovations so we had a few appetizers at the bar on the 4th floor. Thankfully they had hotdgs at the theater because I was still STARVING! There was even a photobooth where they had an area set up like a room from the movie.

Electric Human Pop Up

In November my good friend Amanda had a pop up shop for her company Electric Human. Andrew and I made a date night out of the evening. We ended up having dinner at one of my all time favorite Thai restaurants Toi, which was right down the street.

Soho House

For the last month, Olive has been begging me to take her to the Soho House. She loves hearing stories about when I'm there with my girlfriends. A few weeks ago we were supposed to go with my friend Betsy - but Olive got sick. Let me tell you....she was beyond sad. Thankfully, Lotus invited us to a screening of Penguins of Madagascar last weekend. They don't allow pictures there, but they have the coolest photobooth. I love this series of pics of her and Piper.

Smokehouse with Mamas

A few weeks ago my mom and Aunt stopped in LA to see us on their way to a spa/detox/cleanse. We went to the Smokehouse in Burbank. It's been around since 1946 and is super old school. They have a photographer that goes around and takes pictures of everyone!

Olive's First Concert

Months ago I promised Olive that I would take her to see Taylor Swift when she came to Los Angeles. I asked anyone and every one for help in getting tickets. A week before the show - it seemed pretty apparent that we weren't going to be able to get them. At the last minute my friend Betsy had 4 tickets that a business associate couldn't use. Guess what….WE WENT. And we had the best time ever.

Auntie Karrie Comes to Visit

Two weeks ago my sister came down to visit us. We were going to have a small dinner party at our house with some friends, but the rain put a damper on our BBQing plans. Instead - we went out to dinner and had a fun Los Angeles adventure. It's apparent that my sister LOVES my husband.

DVF - Journey of a Dress

Thursday night, Lotus invited Erin and I to the Diane Von Furstenberg exhibit at the LACMA. It was a private event with only about 100 people. The iconic designer was there to meet everyone and answer questions about her famous wrap dress.

Dresses from every decade were displayed and believe it or not - it was hard to pick a favorite. I pretty much wanted all of them in my closet! The best part was meeting DVF and hearing about her life, work, and inspiration.

I had such a great time with these two lovely ladies. What's better than friends, wine, and fashion?
