the cahn house just got a little bit safer

definitely not the most attractive addition to the house, but we've finally put up the pool fence.

it had been stored in pieces in the shed for about 4 years - so it was covered in cobwebs and dirt.  it took a while to figure out which piece went where, but in the end, it all fit together.

on the bright side, i think we only have to keep it up for about 5 years, so i'll be able to take it down in no time!

New Shoes

Last week I bought the cutest pair of ballet flats for Olive at Baby Gap. The reason? In the rush to get out of the house, I forgot to put shoes on her!

Disneyland x3

Since we are the proud new owners of Disneyland season passes, we decided to go again on Monday with Georgia and Lula. There was a slight chance of rain so we figured it would be the perfect time to go! Unfortunately it started raining as soon as we walked into the park and didn't let up until after we left.

Even though it was raining - we all had a great time! The lines were short which is the only way to enjoy Disneyland.

The cutest part of the entire day was watching the girls interact. The most fun they had was chasing each other around the place we stopped to have a bite of warm Gumbo soup!

Philippe - The Original

Philippe - The Original has been on my list of MUST TRY restaurants for years. While we were downtown for the art exhibit - it hit me that now was the time to finally try it! As you can see - the place is ALWAYS packed. And that was at 4pm on a Sunday - can you imagine what it is like at lunch/dinnertime?!?

We all ordered the same thing - Roast Beef French dip! We also got the pickled eggs, macaroni salad, cole slaw, pickles, and an apple pie for dessert. Now I know what all the fuss is about - the french dip was absolutely delicious!

Everyone else loved it too - notice how there is very little food remaining?

Ansel Adams

After returning home from Palm Springs we met up with Grandma and Grandpa Cahn to see the Ansel Adams show at the Drkrm Gallery in downtown LA.

The interesting thing about this show is that it showcased rare photographs taken by Adams in the 40's for Fortune Magazine. Years later he donated the unused photographs to the Los Angeles Public Library with a note apologizing because he felt that none of the pictures were very good. The note also included this zinger - "if they have no value whatsoever, please dispose of them in the incinerator... At any event, I do not want them back." Surprisingly - the photographs were selling for $10,000. I guess they weren't as bad as he thought!

Questionable Parenting

While on our trip to Palm Springs daddy decided to let Olive help him drive. His excuse was that it was night time, we were in a gated community, and there were no cars around for miles.

Palm Springs, Horses, and Auntie Karrie

Saturday afternoon we drove down to Palm Springs to see Auntie Karrie. I've always loved windmills and was excited to get an eyeful on the way there!

Due to some unforeseen traffic, we couldn't make the last horsing event so we met up for an early dinner instead! As you can see - Olive was very happy to sit on Auntie Karrie's lap. I think her iphone might have had something to do with it!

The next morning we got up bright and early to watch Karrie in her Jumper Classic. After all these years, it still amazes me that my little sister is such an incredible rider. Just look at those HUGE jumps that she flies over with ease. Thankfully I'm not a horse fanatic or I might be a little jealous!

Tea-Cups

Here is proof that I can't handle the tea-cups anymore! How did that happen?

Disneyland

A few weeks ago, Andrew quit his job to move on to bigger and better things. Since he had this week off we decided to make the most of it and go to Disneyland again. Grandpa Dan decided to join us - which was a special treat! Although I don't think Olive LOVES the "Happiest Place on Earth" yet - she certainly enjoys all the rides. Her favorites this time around were the Jungle Cruise and the tea-cups.

Speaking of tea-cups.......they used to be my favorite as a kid. Now I can barely spin for 30 seconds before I feel like I might toss my cookies. Olive, however, can't get enough. In fact - the fast the better!

Towards the end of our busy day the Delks met up with us for dinner. As you can see - Henry is getting so big! Even though he is a few days younger than Olive, he's about a foot taller.

kim's worst ocd nightmare

i try and do my best as a dad - i feed olive, change her diapers, clean up after her, etc.  one thing i fail at is dressing her.  it's not because i don't understand what styles will accentuate her body type - it's that i can't figure out kim's closet organization.  i'm not lying when i say olive has a million outfits, and in enough sizes to last her until she graduates high school.  my problem is that i can't tell where the ones that actually fit her are stored.  i've told kim about my troubles and she just laughs and says something about me being an idiot, and that her closet organization is easy to understand.

so with that back story, here is tonight's tale - while dressing olive after her bath she has gotten into the habit of pulling all of her neatly organized pajamas out and burying herself in them.  i personally think it's hilarious, and kim pretends to be cool with it, but i know it's killing her on the inside.

Sweet Sleep

Olive has been consistently sleeping through the night for months and months. The crazy thing is - I am more tired now than ever! It seems like the more sleep I get the more exhausted I am the next day. How is that possible?

CCM aka Century City Mall aka Heaven

It's no secret that Andrew and I love the Century City Mall. Now that the Counter is there - we love it even more! We attempted to take Olive to Giggles and Hugs for lunch and play time but it was packed. We opted for this car ride instead.

Intervention

A little over a week ago, we decided to stage an intervention on our darling and exceptionally bright daughter. Basically, she is obsessed with the iphone. We realized it was becoming a problem when her toy area stayed clean and organized for a few days due to the lack of playing with them! If given the opportunity she could play with either of our phones all day. Thus - we had to cut her off. I'm happy to announce that Olive has pretty much forgotten about the "BAH" (her word for phone). I think the hardest part is that mommy and daddy can't be on theirs all day anymore! Which, if I'm being honest, is a very good thing.

The Chapmans and Chick Fil-A

Monday afternoon we headed south to visit the Chapmans and have lunch. We decided on the popular fast food spot - Chick Fil-A. I knew it was popular, but I didn't realized JUST how popular it was! There were 2 rows of cars wrapped around the building waiting for the drive thru! After lunch we stopped at a used bookstore to buy the girls some books. As you can see - it was their favorite part of the day!
