16 Weeks - POP

I'm 16 weeks today and I think I have finally popped - the baby bump is here! This week the baby is as big as an avocado and is about 4 to 5 inches long and weighs about 3 to 5 oz. It still seems so crazy that a baby is growing inside my body.

Here is a close up of the bump. I don't think anyone can deny that there is some serious baby action in there.

Sushi - Preggo Style

Last night we had dinner with Christine, Garret, and Peter at Izakaya. Before I got pregnant it was one of my favorite sushi spots. Now that I can't eat sushi it is a little difficult because everything is so delicious. Thankfully they have other things besides raw fish.

Like this juicy Kobe burger. Yes, I ate one and it was amazing.

Christine, of course, was mesmerized by my bling and had to try on my wedding ring. I think it looks pretty good - and not just because it is mine.

The most difficult thing to resist at Izakaya is the crispy rice and spicy tuna. I have to admit I had a tiny bite. And yes, it was just as good as I imagined. Maybe better.

kim's new(ish) car

when kim got the urge for a new car 3 years ago, we discussed the options and decided to lease her is250. my logic? it's a pretty small car to commit to own for 10 years, you never know what's around the corner. and wouldn't you know, right as the lease was ending we found out kim was pregnant.

it was a pretty easy decision what to buy - a) kim proclaimed that she would only ever drive a lexus, and b) how could she be a soccer mom without owning a suv?

and as luck would have it, kim's parents were trying to get rid of her sister's old car. a match made in heaven. i'm only a little disappointed that it's not a subaru.

Brunch, Soho House Style

Sunday Lotus invited me to brunch with her, Poppie, and Olanna. She is now one of the newest members of the hip, Soho House. You can't get in without a member which makes it exclusive and a little too cool for school. But even I have to admit that it lived up to its hype. Not only did we have a zillion celeb sightings, but they have the coolest photo booth ever! I hope the dress code makes exceptions for maternity gear because I plan on being a regular. Hopefully Lotus won't mind me being her constant +1.

After brunch we dropped Poppie off and got to see her gorgeous baby, Piper. Look at those baby blues. She is seriously is the cutest baby ever.

My Appetite is Back!

I know this is just a repeat of Andrew's blog entry, but I thought I would put my two cents in as well!

Yesterday Andrew and I had our 15 week visit at the doctor. We weren't planning on having an ultrasound - but the doctor wanted to make sure everything looked good. As you can see from the picture above - our little baby is cute as can be!

After our doctors visit we went to Swingers for lunch. Apparently my appetite is back! I wanted everything on the menu - including a milkshake!

And yes, all that food is mine.

taking a stab at a video

this morning we had our 15 week doctor visit. it was only supposed to be a blood test, but if you're in a room with a ultrasound machine sitting in the corner, why not fire it up? it also marks my first attempt at a video of the ultrasound. although our doctor is many things, she's not exactly patient when it comes to indulging my photography. enjoy.

Baby Bump - 15 weeks

It finally looks like I have a baby bump! I've been wondering for weeks how long it would take and it looks like that day is here. This week the baby is the size of an orange and is about 4.5 inches long.

This morning it seemed that I felt a little fluttering in my tummy - but I think it is still a little too early to feel anything.

Molly's Belated Birthday!

Because Molly was away on her extended Hawaiian vacation, her birthday celebration was delayed. Christine set up a surprise dinner for her at Bulan Thai on Monday night. I was definitely craving some spicy noodles, however, the baby was not happy about it later.

Here is a picture of Andrew and I at the dinner. Don't you just love his cheesy Tuxedo t-shirt? It was so nice to finally see Molly after her month away. Even I have to admit, I was pretty jealous of her sexy tan.

Kick-Ass and The Perfect Burger

I wasn't feeling super hot on Friday so I canceled girls saturday with Lotus. I definitely missed our girls day - but I was able to spend the afternoon with Andrew. It has been months since I've been up for doing anything so we had some much needed fun! First we saw Kick-Ass which I have to admit was pretty darn kick ass!

Then for the first time ever I was craving red meat. After striking out at Houstons (an hour and a half wait!!!), we went to Fatburger. I have to admit - it was one of the best burgers ever. Waaaaaay better than In-n-Out. You can tell from the picture that I enjoyed it and surprisingly, I ate the entire thing!

kim scratches the itch

anyone who knows kim knows that her number one calling is shopping. she's been a little out of sorts lately because she hasn't been hitting her usual numbers due to morning sickness, etc. well now that we've passed the 3 month mark she's been gearing up to buy baby stuff. purchase number one is a glider chair, which is a fancy way of saying a rocking chair. found on craigslist for 1/2 the retail price.

14 Weeks Down, 26 to Go

I always used to think that pregnant woman were crazy for counting weeks instead of months. I hated that it would take me a few minutes to calculate how far along they really were. I mean why not just say, "I'm 3 months." Now I understand, of course, because with each passing week you are that much closer to having the baby! It is far easier to say "I'm 14 weeks" than "I'm 3 1/2 months". Or even worse, "I'm 4 months, 1 week". In any case - I'm 14 weeks today and I feel great. I still don't see much of a baby bump but I'm sure in a few weeks I'll start to pop.

I've included another closeup of the tummy. See....there is a little baby bump there!

Baby Wants Thai!

Last night I left work a little early so that we could meet Auntie Lotus for some Thai food at our favorite place: Palms Thai (aka Thai Elvis). For whatever reason I was craving Panang and spicy noodles like crazy. Unfortunately for me - I'm not sure the baby was very happy about all the spiciness.

I got some super duper new camera application for my iphone. As you can see from the above photos - I still don't know how to use it!

13 weeks, 1 day

It's hard to believe I'm in my 2nd trimester already! 13 weeks and a day doesn't seem that far along but the baby is the size of a lemon (3 inches). Seems pretty big to me!

The ultrasound we had this week was pretty cool - the baby actually looked like a baby! Andrew gave the office a blank cd and they are going to put all the stills of our little munchkin on it. I'm sure he will update the blog with more pictures.

Here is a close up of the baby bump. I don't see much - but usually around 7pm it sticks out a lot further!

Easter with Auntie Lotus

Auntie Lotus invited us over for Easter dinner at her place. Even without a working oven - dinner was delicious! I filled up on appetizers but thankfully still had room for Shawn's amazing bunny rabbit cake.

Poppie and Amos brought there gorgeous daughter Piper. As you can see from the pictures - Andrew and I were in major baby mode. We could not get enough of her!

It was so great to see everyone and spend the holiday with friends. After our long day I fell asleep around 9:30pm. Everyone keeps telling me to get as much sleep while I can. Is it bad that I am a little scared?

12 Weeks, 1 Day

I've past the 12 week mark although you wouldn't know it from the picture above. After 24 hours of throwing up and feeling like utter crap - it is hard to see the little baby bump. I'm pretty sure after another day of eating regularly balanced meals - my baby bump will be back!

Kimmie Takes a Trip to the ER

Wednesday night I wasn't feeling too hot, but I figured it was just my normal "night sickness". Although when I woke up the next morning I felt worse. I couldn't keep breakfast down and for the rest of the day I continued tossing my cookies. I left work early and still felt terrible. Andrew took me to the ER around 7pm since I was so dehydrated. After a saline drip and 2 rounds of anti-nausea meds I was still throwing up. Thankfully the doctor gave me an ultrasound so we could check on Andrew Jr. Everything looked fine with the baby so that was a relief.

We were discharged around 1:30am and I was so happy to go home. I woke up the next morning feeling so much better. Turns out that 6 other people at work got sick as well! As much as I feel for all the people that got sick - it was nice to know that it wasn't just me "being pregnant".

RIP MRP

Last Sunday we had an RIP MRP Party. It is hard to believe that it has been 1 year since Mad River closed. To get the house ready we had a cleaning crew and window washers in on Saturday afternoon. The house never looked better!

Thankfully Sahra came over to help set up on Sunday morning. We could not have done it without her!

Andrew even bought Sparkling Apple Cider for the pregnant ladies! Becky is 5 months and I can't wait to pick her brain about everything pregnancy related. We plan on laying by the pool as soon as it gets warm!

It was great to see everyone although I didn't take as many pictures as I normally do! All in all the party was a great success. Needless to say I was exhausted by the end of it and slept like a baby.
