Lennox's Birthday Party!

Last Saturday my friend Glenda asked me to take some photos at Lennox's 4th Birthday party. First off - the party was amazing. It was a circus theme and there were so many carnival attractions. Glenda definitely knows how to throw a party! In any case - here are a few photos that I took. I had a lot of great ones of other kids....but figured their parents may not appreciate me posting their pictures on the blog.

New York, New York

In one word - New York was: AMAZING. I normally bring my camera everywhere and take a gazillion photos. This time - I just wanted to enjoy my time in the city without having to worry about getting the perfect shot. I took the red eye last Tuesday and got upgraded to first class FOR FREE. It was the very best way to start the trip. My hotel was small but adorable with a really cool vibe. They had something fun to do every night! I saw one of my favorite musicians (TWICE)  and got together with old friends. I walked around the city a ton. I slept in every  single day and didn't have a crazy itinerary to stick to. I went and saw Dear Evan Hansen on Broadway (it was EXTRAORDINARY) and ate a ton of delicious food. I even went dancing with a friend at a gay bar until 2am!

New York...Here I Come

A few weeks ago I decided to go to New York. I tried to convince my sister to go with me as a "girls trip" but she has been at horse shows nonstop and couldn't commit to more time away from home. Before marriage and kids, I used to travel all the time by myself. Costa Rica, New York, Chicago, Mexico. It was one of my favorite things to do. Sometimes it's nice to get away for a little alone time. I leave in a few weeks and am beyond excited. I'm staying at a little hotel in Tribeca and have tickets to a concert and a Broadway show. I plan on exploring the city, eating at all my favorite places, and seeing some friends while I'm there. The only problem......it's probably going to be freezing cold. Keep your fingers crossed for me that it warms up. This California girl isn't used to COLD COLD COLD weather.

Shots on the Go

Auntie Karrie and her Horseys

Last weekend the kids and I drove to Palm Springs to see my sister at her horse show. On the way back to Los Angeles we stopped at my favorite hotel - The Parker. Sadly, they couldn't take us for lunch so we headed over to the Ace! I'm a sucker for any place that has a Photo Booth. (will post pics)

Mommy Update

I thought that with both kids being in school I would have more time. In fact, the opposite is true. I feel like there isn't enough time in the day to do everything! I hardly have time to update the blog or do all the DIY's I've been wanting to do. I finally went to the dentist the other day - something I hadn't done for 2 years! Thankfully I only had one cavity.......but still. I go back today to do some much needed dental work that I've been putting off for years and years. Here are a few updates about the entire Cahn household that I will blog about soon.

- We recently purchased a bunkbed for Olive's room. Buster is no longer sleeping on her floor. However - putting the sheets and comforter on the top bunk is especially difficult. I'm looking into buying these things called "bunkies". Basically its a quilt but fits over the mattress like a fitted sheet. There is a zipper on the side like a sleeping bag and the kids get inside it. All you do is zip it up and it looks like a perfectly made bed. The only problem is the fabrics aren't amazing. Will keep you updated on what we decide.

- Our piano came! It is beyond gorgeous. It took 4 months - but was soooooo worth it. It's in our main living room and the kids love it. In a week or two we will start piano lessons for both Olive and Buster.

- We are in the process of redoing our kitchen. Last year I tried to make it work with my favorite designer of all time - but they were too busy. Somehow it worked out that they have time this year and we start demoing in the summer. We still have a design to lock down - but I'm beyond excited.

- In March I'm going to New York for a week by myself. I am so looking forward to being in the city and seeing some old friends. I'm going to see a few musicals, a band, museums, and spend a lot of time walking around exploring.

- Finally got around to purchasing our Christmas gift from my mom. We should have a very large KING SIZE bed arriving in a few weeks. We had it custom made with a nice gray fabric headboard. It's funny how much BIGGER a king is then a queen.

- I did an overnight meditation last weekend that was amazing. I decided that 2017 was going to be a year that got me out of my comfort zone. I'm excited to try new things and so far I haven't been disappointed.

- Finally getting the Photo Booth figured out. Hoping it will be here at the end of march. I went back and forth about whether we really needed it. Which...for the record...we do not. Buuuuut...just seems like the perfect thing for our house.

Griffith Park Observatory

Last week Busters class went on a field trip to the Griffith Observatory. The kids are studying the solar system so it was the perfect place to go!

Olive & Buster Update

OLIVE UPDATE

- Reading like crazy. I have to watch myself when I spell things that I don't want her to hear - she can pretty much figure it out!
- Picks out her own clothes every day.
- Finally has discovered that jeans are cool - she prefers them over dresses.
- Can braid her own hair.
- Obsessed with her American Girl dolls. We've set up the little room off of her bathroom as her dolls bedroom.
- Lost a total of 8 teeth.
- Going to start piano lessons in a few weeks. Crossing my fingers she loves it!
- Loves Kidz Bop (group of kids that sing current songs). I got her tickets for Christmas to their concert and she was beyond excited.
- Can do a cart wheel perfectly.
- Reads a book to Buster every night. It's pretty much the cutest thing ever.

BUSTER UPDATE

- Was coming into our room every night wanting to sleep in our bed. Now, we walk him back to his bed and tuck him in.
- Knows every word to the Trolls movie.
- Loves to sing all the songs from Moana
- Is figuring out letters. His favorite thing to say when he sees a K is "Mommy - this letter is in your name and Neeks name" (Neek is his bff at school)
- Loves school. He's always on his best behavior there and the teachers LOVE him.
- Only wants Daddy. I'm pretty much chopped liver at the moment.
- Obsessed with puzzles. He puts 3 together every day.
- Loves to scooter at the park. If he could, he would go every single day.
- Discovered the app store on our iPhones. There are about 45 games downloaded on mine alone. Thankfully they are all free!
- Getting more picky when he eats. His favorite thing to say is, "Mommy - my tummy is full!"
