Rapunzel Gets a Trim

For the last week Olive has been begging us to get her hair cut. At first she wanted to cut it all off. I was able to convince her to keep it a little longer.  Cut to today - we had an appointment with my friend Djuna. Olive was all smiles and then……the tears and in a quiet voice she said, "Mommy - I want my old hair back." Thankfully a little ice cream and a trip to Firefly kids next door did the trick. We'll see how the next couple of days go…….

Buster Clayton Cahn - Update

- Sleeps through the night. And by sleeping through the night - I mean sleeping ALL NIGHT!!!  It's pretty much the most amazing thing ever.
- No longer nursing.
- Is in a biting and hitting stage. It drives me absolutely bonkers sooooo I have to take deep breaths when he is sinking his teeth into my skin.
- Talking up a storm. Can say "hello", "thank you", "mama", "dada", "olive", "mimi", "night-night", "bye-bye", "bus-bus"(buster)", "no", "brush", "bell-bell", "ball", "this".
- Eats like a champ. The kid will try anything and the majority of the time he LOVES it.
- He is about 5 pounds lighter than Olive. Keep in mind - Olive is almost 3 years older than him.
- Throws a fit when he doesn't get what he wants. The other day he threw himself on the kitchen floor and screamed. I had NO IDEA what he wanted. One minute later - it was as if nothing had happened.
- Obsessed with medicine bottles. Currently he has been carrying around the Delsem cough syrup for days. The problem is - he's smart enough to figure out how to take the top off so I have to watch him like a hawk!
- Loves shoes. He will spend hours putting mine on and taking them off. At least we know he takes after me in one thing!
- No longer loves his little race car. All he wants to do is walk, walk, walk, walk, walk.

Renegade Craft Fair

Sunday afternoon we headed downtown to Grand Park for the Renegade Craft Fair. There were so many cool booths and items for sale. Unfortunately it was hotter than hot and the little ones were over it as soon as we got there. We picked up a few homemade cards, stuffed animals, and the tastiest strawberry and cream popsicles and headed out!

Lemonade Extravaganza

Olive has been dreaming of having a lemonade stand for weeks! She would not stop talking about it and eventually recruited her friends Harper and Allegra. This Saturday they setup  in front of our house and sold 2 flavors of lemonade (regular and pink with strawberries), chocolate chip cookies, and brownies. Each treat was 50 cents. Surprisingly, there was a large turnout……..(ok, we called a lot of our friends and guilted them into coming.) In the end they split $60 between the 3 of them! Thank you to everyone who made this a special day for our girls.

Olive Harper Cahn - Update

- Her hair is all the way down to her butt! She loves it and thinks she is a princess pretty much every hour of every day. Although recently she has mentioned cutting it short…..
- Obsessed with 'So You Think You Can Dance' - she stays up late every wednesday to watch it and dances around the room the entire time.
- Loves learning about bones and where babies come from. Thankfully grandma Carolyn knows pretty much everything and they spend hours going through books and talking about it.
- Starting to become more independent about what clothes and shoes she wants to wear. Inside it kills me just a little….
- Always wants to "wait on the steps" for everyone - daddy, grandma, babysitters. It's pretty much the cutest thing ever.
- No longer uses pacifiers. Like ever. She's been without them for over a month and hasn't wanted one since. We are so proud of her and still on the lookout for the perfect dog.
- Begs daddy to take her on a walk every day. She loves getting on her bike or scooter and exploring the neighborhood.
- Is crazy about being the "winner". She always wants to be the first at something. I'm trying to make her understand that she can't always win. Especially when she is competing with her 1 year old brother.
- Most of the time on her walks with daddy she collects leaves, twigs, grass, and flowers and uses them for her "bug house" in the backyard.
- Finally wearing shorts and tops! I was worried for a second that the hundred of items in her closet would go unused.

Crochet-a-thon

As most of you know - my mother in law is pretty amazing when it comes to crocheting and knitting. She can whip up something special in about 2 seconds. I've always been amazed at her skills so a few months ago she taught me a few things. I realized I wanted to spread the love and have a party so that my friends could also learn a few basics!  Sunday afternoon I had 10 ladies over for lunch, wine, and lots of crocheting. Thankfully Carolyn is a fantastic teacher and most of the ladies got the hang of it in no time!
