This year, for the 4th of July, we spent a couple days in Newport. It's nice getting out of LA for a little bit and spending time on the beach! We invited our neighbors and Olive's new bff, Harper, to spend the night too. Olive was VERY excited for her first sleepover.
The Delks also drove down for the festivities, and our first stop was the Balboa Fun Zone. The kids rode on the ferris wheel, tried the bungee jump, and went to the Ocean Literacy Center. Of course they LOVED all of it! After, we stopped at the Sweet Tooth for some ice cream before we headed back to the house.
The rest of the afternoon, we spent running after the kids on the beach and BBQing. Everything was delicious - although I wish I had gotten a picture of Andrew grilling and Buster chilling on the grass next to him!
Unfortunately our firework plans were thwarted when we realized we were losing power on the Duffy. We were able to watch the first few minutes - but then had to head back. Surprisingly, we were able to watch the entire show on the boat ride home! And even more importantly - I discovered that the view from the house is almost just as good as the boat.
