Last night my mom and stepdad took Todd and me to Melisse for our birthday. In my opinion, it is one of the best restaurants in Los Angeles. Andrew and I have only been a handful of times for special occasions since the food is rich and the price tag a little hefty.
Last night was no exception for a truly amazing 4 hour meal. Yes that's right - our dinner lasted over 4 hours! The entire table did the tasting menu which did not disappoint. I started with the Vegetable and Burrata Salad.
Then moved on to the Salmon, which is the best I have ever had.
And for my main entree - the Rib Eye. Andrew and I had decided before ordering that he would get the vegetarian courses and I would get meat so we could share. They also offered a surprise vegan menu which I wish I had gotten. There is something exciting about not knowing what you will get! And since the food is so rich and delicious the vegan option would have been a little lighter. Oh well...next time!
Before dessert we had a cheese plate which the entire table shared.
Finally for dessert we all received apples - 3 ways, that was compliments of the chef. Then I had the chocolate, chocolate, chocolate. Let me just say this: I'm paying for my decadence this morning. Although maybe the 5 glasses of wine didn't help either.
All in all it was a fantastic birthday dinner. A little after midnight our meal was finally finished and we were the only diners in the restaurant!
Thanks to everyone who made it such a special birthday!!! Love you all.
*I did take photos of everyone else's dishes but didn't want to bore you readers with all the food pics! Lets just say that everyone had a yummy meal. I know, because I tasted them all. That's what happens when you are the birthday girl - everyone has to let you try theirs!
