Happy Fathers Day!
Happy Fathers Day to the best daddy in the whole wide world. Olive and I love you more than anything.
Father's Day Morning
It was Andrew's first Father's Day this year. To celebrate we opted for breakfast in bed at the hotel. Granted, we didn't actually have it in bed - we had it set on the little table at the foot of the bed. We even had them bring a high chair so Olive could take part!
Olive made the cutest little book with pictures for daddy. She put her handprints and footprints in it and even included a little poem. She also bought him the cutest picture frame that says I LOVE DADDY with her favorite picture of them. Here is a cute photo of them on Father's Day morning with all his awesome presents!
The Bacara
After our short trip to the zoo we headed to our hotel - the Bacara Resort. Unfortunately the weather wasn't cooperating so our plans to lay by the pool for the rest of the afternoon were thwarted.
Instead, we went to the hotel bar and had a drink and a few appetizers. Olive loved crawling all over the soft floor. All the other guests thought that she was just "adorable".
Then we headed back to the room to get our little munchkin ready for bed. After, we met my old friend Sean Studds, for a drink at the bar. He is the executive chef at the Faculty Club at UCSB. It was so good to see him - he makes me laugh so hard that my stomach often hurts after seeing him!

zoo clarification
hello -
it's andrew here. kim's description of our trip to the zoo was totally accurate, except for our first animal encounter.
to set the stage - i think kim was far more excited than olive or i to go to the zoo. she practically ran through the gate and up to the first exhibit. as olive and i slowly caught up she quickly jumped back and let out a little scream like she had just seen a ghost. when we finally caught up we saw why - for some odd reason they set up the zoo so the first exhibit you see is the capybara. basically the ugliest possible creature - the world's largest rodent. kim calls it the honey badger, but that's not at all what it is.

Olive Goes to Santa Barbara
Next up - the zoo! To be honest, both Andrew and I feel that zoo's are depressing. Seeing the poor animals behind cages or in tiny little areas isn't even close to how they live in the wild. With that being said, we thought Olive might enjoy it. Of course she is only 8 months old and was far more interested in the trees.

TEST TEST TEST
I'm having problems with my google groups. This is a TEST. I repeat - this is a TEST.
Olive's New Shoes
Olive has the tiniest feet - she barely fits into her 6-12 month shoes! I tend to not put her in any because they are all too big and fall off. I couldn't resist trying these hot pink ballet flats that daddy bought her for Valentines Day. They are way too big but somehow they stayed on all day!

Cute Outfit of the Week
Now that Olive is crawling all over the place, it is getting more and more difficult to keep her in dresses. I've been trying to put her in crawl-friendly outfits like this one. Janie and Jack has the absolute CUTEST clothes. Unfortunately they are also really expensive! Thank goodness my friend Juliet sent us a ton of stuff. Stylish AND free - you can't beat that!

Tireless Tuesday
Tuesday Olive and I were very, very busy. First up - Story time at the Santa Monica library with Mr. Jessie. We went last week and had to come back since Olive loved it so much! After story time we walked around Main Street and did a little shopping.
Next up - Gymboree class with Georgia and her mommy, Michelle. She is seriously sooooo cute.
Olive loves Gymboree - especially bubble time. Bubbles for Olive!
After class we headed back home to meet Auntie Karrie. She was on her way to a horse show and stopped in LA to hang with us. Since it was so gorgeous out - we spent the rest of the afternoon in the pool. After putting Olive to sleep we headed out for dinner. Thank goodness for Ayslinn - I've gone out a ton over the last few weeks! Believe it or not Olive slept all night. I'm going to have to tire her out more often.
Olive + Ruby
On Monday afternoon we had a playdate with Ruby and her mommy Carrie. We ended up going to Tender Greens for lunch and then heading back to the house so the little ones could play.
While at Tender Greens a few people even thought Olive and Ruby were twins! They are both so darn gorgeous! We miss seeing her every week at our old Mommy & Me class.

Bye Bye Auntie Ayslinn
On Sunday Andrew and I threw a small going away party for Ayslinn. She is moving back to New Hampshire in a couple weeks and wanted to say goodbye to the Mad River crew.
Andrew grilled all afternoon and did a darn good job too! The hamburger I had was absolutely delish.
Of course we spent most of the afternoon in the pool. I love any excuse for a summer pool party although we are all going to miss sweet Ayslinn.
Oliver Comes to Visit
I've been meaning to post pictures of Olive's boyfriend's visit last week, but have been a little slow with the blog entries lately.
As you can tell from these pictures there was a bit of tug and war with this little orange toy. It's Olive's favorite.

my good friend ryan delk recently started a website where you submit pictures of babies photoshopped into scenes from starwars. it's a little nuts, but here it is - link. he talked me into submitting 3 pictures to get it started. they turned out pretty good, if you ask me. here they are -
Happy Belated Birthday Dad
I'm a terrible daughter. I completely forgot my dad's birthday this week on June 7th! No call, no card, nothing. To make up for it - here is a photo tribute to my handsome father.
You are the best! If it weren't for you, I wouldn't be here. And if I weren't here, Olive wouldn't be here.
I'm sorry I forgot your birthday. I hope you had the best day ever.
Happy, Happy Birthday Dad. I love you very much.
P.S. Does anyone notice the similarities between me as a baby and Olive. We look sooooo much alike!
P.P.S. What is up with my mom's afro?
