4th of July - Becky's Camera
A few more pictures from our 4th of July extravaganza in Bay Island. Thankfully Becky had her camera and it was working - unlike mine. The good news is that I ordered another one and it actually turns on and takes photos!
Lula Comes to Casa Cahn
It is with a sad heart that I write this: the Chapman's have decided to move back to Florida. Byron packed up a U-Haul and headed out on Friday and Becky and Lula moved in with us for a week. I'm thankful that we have a little time with them before they fly home, but it will be really hard to say good-bye. Especially since the girls are so cute together. I'll especially miss Lula saying "Where Olive?" the minute she wakes up in the morning.

Olive's New Bike
A few weeks ago a package arrived from Grandma Rufer for Olive. Inside was a shiny, new trike. As you can see - she LOVES it!
Cute Outfit of the Week
Even though this romper is too big for Olive, I couldn't resist putting it on her. In a few months it should fit perfectly!

olive gets accepted to her first swanky school
it probably sounds insane that our little 1 1/2 year old daughter is already applying to schools. and i would agree, it is nuts. but apparently it's what you have to do in los angeles.
you see the problem is that public schools suck, so that means you have to go the private school route. but to get into a good private school, you have to first get into a good preschool, and to get into a good preschool you have to first get into a good playgroup. it's a vicious cycle.
kim and i have done the best we can to not feed into that hype. a lot of kim's mom friends have been on 6+ tours of the local schools. i did a search on the internet and using my usual research methodology - which had the coolest website - i picked one to tour.
and as luck would have it - the one we toured turned out to be pretty cool, so we signed up. they follow a hippie teaching methodology called the reggio emilia approach. although i would make the argument that all 2 year old's learning is self-guided. have you ever tried to sit a toddler down and make them do something they didn't want to do?
anyway here is a link to the school. kim is doing a once a week parent/child class with olive that will be a good introduction to school, and learning, and being with a huge group of kids, etc etc. i hope they don't give olive too much homework because i think i've forgotten all of my math learnin'.
important footnote - kim will argue that her play group teacher recommended them before i did my internet search, but sort of like elisia gray, it's more of a independent discovery situation.

4th of July - iPhone Style
Here are a few more pictures from our 4th of July in Bay Island. To celebrate the holiday we invited a few friends with kids over for dinner and fireworks on the boat. It was such a fun day that all the girls were exhausted by the end of it!

I Love My Husband (Even Though He Drives Me Crazy)
Reason number 154 on why I love my husband: Last night after a big meal with friends, Andrew cleaned up while we played outside with the kids.
Happy 4th of July
As luck would have it, my brand new camera malfunctioned on the 4th of July. Luckily my iPhone takes pretty decent pictures.

Camera Update
It looks like my camera is long gone. I'm buying another one online now as I type this.
Photo Shoot
I've been feeling a little blah about my blog lately. Besides Olive, it is one of my favorite pastimes. And since I have no intention of stopping any time soon, I've decided it needs a little revamping! Even though Michelle is going to take more current pictures of us in the next few weeks, I thought I would try my hand at setting up a little photo shoot. Although I don't think that these pictures are as good as hers - I think they came out pretty well considering none of us are professional photographers! Especially since Olive was over it after 10 minutes! A big thank you to my baby brother Todd for getting up early and taking some of these great shots. And keep your eyes peeled for my new blog layout soon!
