Connecticut

I try to refrain from using my blog as a commentary on news stories. However, I am compelled to at least say a few things about what happened on Friday in Connecticut. It's been hard for me to sleep the last few nights because my thoughts keep going to the families that lost so much. The whole thing is so difficult for me to comprehend, that I haven't been able to watch the news or go online. I'm not a religious person but I find myself praying every night for the children that were taken away too soon, for the children that survived, for the teachers, for the parents, for the families and friends, and for everyone that was affected by this terrible nightmare. The world is a scary place but I have to believe that there is still so much good out there. I don't want my family or children to live in fear. Something needs to change - that much is obvious. I'm not sure if it is a gun issue (who needs assault weapons anyway?), a mental health issue, or a media issue. It's most likely a little bit of all three.

I know that all of you reading this were probably affected in some way by what happened. If you are looking for ways to help - here are a few links.

As a side note - I love all of you so much and am so thankful to have you in my life. Give all the people you care about an extra hug today and tell them how much you love them.
