Saturday night we kept our reservation at Ink - after waiting a month for a table I couldn't give it up! We somehow convinced my mom and Karrie to join us. The place was packed and we ended up waiting almost an hour for our table.
Thankfully the staff took care of a round of drinks and a few appetizers because we had to wait so long. They sent out the beef carpaccio (AMAZING) and the mushroom cereal with duck tongue (WEIRD AND GROSS).
We ended up ordering almost every item on the menu because it all looked so interesting. Our next two dishes were the kale and burrata cheese and the bigeye tuna. Both were really yummy and normal.
Next up - charred avocado (INTERESTING) and the spaghetti with squid (EH.....NOT MY FAVE).
Then we had brussel sprouts with pig ears (DELICIOUS), sea bass (YUMMY), jidori chicken with waffles (ABSOLUTELY AMAZING), berkshire pork with mac and cheese (SOOOO GOOD), and the beef short ribs (FANTASTIC). We also had the veal cheeks (NOT GREAT) but I forgot to take a photo!
At this point in the night I asked my mom to a take a photo of the chef - Michael Vottagio. I had my back to the kitchen so it was much easier to have her do it. When he saw her taking photos he asked her to come over. I thought for sure he was going to give her a talking to, but instead, he had her come into the kitchen to take a proper picture. So cool!
And for dessert? Peanut butter, chocolate, coconut and banana (GOOD), and the grapefruit curd (WEIRD).
All in all it was a fantastic evening! Thanks mom and Karrie for joining us AND picking up the tab.
