As most of you know - we adopted a dog a few weeks ago. Olive named him Spartacus, but we call him Sparky or Sparks for short. I'm discovering it's a lot of work, but he really is the sweetest little guy. He is so good with the kids - which is the most important thing.
Here are the CONS:
- He likes to mark his territory in the house. I don't mind when it's on the hardwood floor because it's easy to clean up. When it's on the rugs - it's another story. We are currently working on this. (any advice is welcome)
- He LOVES other dogs. So much so that when he sees one he pulls on the leash and barks like crazy because he wants to play. If we don't let him - he is frantic for the entire walk. (my sister told me to spray him with a little water….and it works! He's been MUCH better)
- Has RUN out of the house 3 times when the door was open. Thankfully we've been able to get him, or he's come back to the house after chasing him around the block. (believe me - when we open the door now we make sure he doesn't bolt!)
- He follows me around everywhere. If I leave the room he runs after me. Or if I close the door - he barks.
- Loves to chew Buster's pacifiers. He's already broken two of them! (currently trying to find a toy that he likes)
- Doesn't like ANY treats. Believe me - we've tried 6 different brands!
- Sometimes when he is deep asleep, he SNORES! (It's pretty much the cutest thing ever though)
- Barks when he hears anyone coming into the room.
Here are the PROS:
- He LOVES other dogs. (Even though he barks and goes a little crazy - at least he's a "friendly" dog)
- He follows me around everywhere. (at least one person in the family is obsessed with me!)
- Gets us out of the house a few times a day for walks.
- Snuggles like crazy.
- Sleeps with Andrew and I and for whatever reason - I love it.
- Has never even come close to biting the kids or anyone, for that matter!
- He doesn't shed!
- He's ADORABLE.
