Sunday morning we had a party at the house for Olive's birthday. I started planning a few months before because I wanted everything to be perfect. Of course - I also said I wasn't going to do anything over the top this year. Um….totally failed at that one. Olive requested a petting zoo and pony rides - so I found Netties Party Pals and booked them immediately. In one word they were: AMAZING. The animals were so adorable and well taken care of. It was definitely a huge hit at the party!
I definitely wanted to keep with the farm theme so I did a lot of googling to find some cute little homemade touches. My favorite were the cutest little wooden horses that Grandma Carolyn helped make. I couldn't have done it without her since she has serious skills on the sewing machine!
We also had a game area in the back with Pin the Tail on the Donkey and Horseshoes. The winners even got prizes! Believe it or not I made the horseshoes by hand.
Since 75 people confirmed they were coming - I decided to get another food truck this year. It's so much easier then cooking food for that many guests!
So many people came out for Olive's party. Even my dad, Ross, Ida, and the kids drove down to celebrate. I feel so fortunately to have them all in my kids' life. There's nothing better than watching all the cousins play!
Grandma Melodie, Alison, and Emma made Olive her birthday cake. I love that they kept with the farm theme. Everyone loved it! It was adorable, delicious, AND homemade!
Next up - the horsey piƱata! What kid doesn't love one?? Thankfully all the little ones got a turn before Emma and Alison were up. Those two girls are tough. Ali hit the legs right off!
The party was a blast and I'm pretty sure everyone had a fantastic time. In the end - I'm so glad we decided to have a huge blow out. Even though it was a lot of work….it was sooooooo worth it. Especially because Olive said to me after everyone left, "Mommy - my party was awesome!"
It's hard to believe this little peanut is 4 years old. I remember when she was born like it was yesterday. Olive has truly fulfilled my life in ways I never thought were possible. Her little smile warms my heart every day. I love her completely and would do anything for her. Including throwing her the best birthday party I could!
